| | The Monks - Drunken Maria | ] | I can't even recall the last time I wrote, but let me assure you my sporadic posting will, well, probably get worse. I'm heading off to Florence Tuesday, meaning I've got just one day left!
Quick Ally news in a short go:
Denver was pretty great. Met my aunt and cousin but not ( my forgotten Uncle ) Ron for the first time. Shopped. Spelunked. Hiked.
Finally finished my summer painting
Saw Superbad with Tom and they played some songs from Nuggets 2! Hell yes! Best part of the movie
Most incredible part was I left my keys on the trunk through the movie and nobody stole my car
Someone sang "booty booty booty booty rockin everywhere" DIRECTED AT ME and it was very funny, only it was funny after i realized it wasn't Sean and I drove away quickly
Never paid the school I'm heading off to, whoops
I really want to watch Roger Rabbit again. I've had a beheaded Roger... THING on my wall for the past year and this is probably to contribute.
Well alright I'm struggling for topics, suffice to say really all I care about now is Firenze! (said with Jazz hands )
Damn these Monks are great.
Farewell!! |

| | Complication - The Monks | ] | Ah, well, as the title suggests.
Been spending the summer painting the woofs and preparing for school (be it school next semester or where to apply for grad school). This is, as always, interspersed with the occasional trip to Jersey and battling evil sinus infections. Really, though, same old same old.
I'm off to Denver in a couple of days, however, to visit my newly moved in mom. When I return I'll have about a week before I jump on another plane... only THIS time, its to the... land of Italy ( really, I couldn't come up with a better way to say that?). I've become very excited about the prospect of living in Florence now, as I've been doing some research and I'll be living in Old Town Florence, meaning I'm living MERE FEET away from Masaccio's Trinity and the GODDAMN DUOMO (exciting for a painter/ probable Art History minor). Like Holy shit, no pun (damn lie) intended! I'll be back for Christmas in time to move in with my BFF (Boy-Friend Ferry) in Baltimore.
And in other news, news that is not quite so important...
I love sites that scan photos of you and turn you into something/ tell you you look like someone you don't. Gary Oldman and me? Not as much resemblance as you might imagine. ( This, however... )
I lost all my makeup and haven't been able to find it for weeks. For Ally "lids never a shade of natural human color" Sulpy this is deep, man... and please don't ever call me that.
Boy the other day I saw a bunch of husky puppies and oh my god they are adorable. I mean, puppies are great in any instance, but a tub full of huskies made me want to steal like nothing else ever could. Oh and they were sleeping on one another and some were on their backs, fast asleep, and oooooh how I wish I had a tub of dogs. This isn't really news but like I said.... I don't have a lot of exciting things to report in summer (or otherwise). |

[Jul. 2nd, 2007|09:47 pm] |
What an arty day its been... I got an email from a guy who claims to own a "major art gallery" in Charleston SC who wants to talk with me about representing me... sold 7 paintings... did a book cover... and was emailed asking if I'd consider being in another art show. All that and not a lick of actually painting, no sir.
And in other news; nothing. Well, I'm going to NJ tomorrow (shock!), where I plan to blow what little money I have and buy another bottle of some sort of berry wine. Hot double dog damn! |

| | I've Rowed Out - The Eyes | ] | I thought I loved the first, but this is just the greatest thing ever made.
On a, hem, different note, I was reading about the RIAA and god DAMN they are the slimiest maggoty bastards I have ever heard about. They're basically just the music mob, and do charming things like sue dead people and 12 year olds and websites for 1.65 TRILLION. Oh, and when they found out a case didn't hold against a woman they sued her 10 year old daughter. You know, those who know me know pretty well I'm not the least bit an anarchist, but I must say the following sums up my feelings on the matter on whole.

Alright, enough of that. Next week is a busy one for me, as I'm going to working nonstop on stockpiling paintings for the show on the 7th, on the 4th I'm picking my mom up from the airport as she's flying in from Denver ( she lives there now), and on the 9th I'm going to the Italian consolate in Philly. Speaking of those paintings, I went through my files and realized I've done 65 in the past 5 weeks. None too shabby, in fact exactly what I figured on. And in typical money wasting fashion I took that to mean, "Ah, Ally, what you need now that you're broke from buying an airline ticket you have to go blow another $70 for more canvases." And I always listen to me, I give the best advice. |

I'm trying to learn some Italian before I go, and bought a program. Included is a cd to practice along with, so I put it on... the segment entitled "talk about yourself" is about a girl named Alessandra who isn't from around whereever the fuck they are... and something about Florence. Thats some creepy shit it is. |

Man alive, getting a visa is no easy shakes. There's 100 confusing things to go do, and no time to do it. I need to go to Philly during the three hours every other day they're open (not kidding) to visit the Italian Consolate. In trying to figure some of this mess out today I called financial aid, Melissa Rands, SACI, mom, ING, mom again, AAA, then ING again, and got... well, I printed out a form! Oh and I need a plane ticket but don't have enough money for one. Hmm... difficulties. |

| | Don't Stop Me Now - Queen | ] | Its really pretty funny how many times Spock is mentioned in this article: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2007/06/08/health-green-blood.html
And its refreshing to stay up late and listen to Queen.
Also, to find a dress you didn't really remember owning only to find you love it and how it fits.
Less incredibly, as it moves into more incredulous... my sister (sigh) came to visit today. All three of us (dad, V, and I) went to go help my grandma with her lawn... only when we got there, V refused to leave the house and help us. Her logic? "I work during the week, I'm not working on my weekend." (she's a secretary... I think.) The kicker? She's inside playing wordsearches and my 78 year old grandmother with the broken hip is out pulling weeds, panting. And no matter how much we tried to persuade grandma to quit and that bitch to start both refused. Then she started laundry and made us wait until it was done, so once we were done with the lawn we had to sit and wait 40 minutes for Princess's laundry to finish. And yes, she is like this ALL THE TIME.
I swear, she only bears our name by accident. Like falling onto a sharp stick. That didn't even make sense.
Anyway! I got a bunch of Mojo mags at a yard sale today, which are always fun for their usually allover interestingness. One features the Kinks, hurray! Several include cd goodness.
Ah, and update of the Italian program (wait.. was I mad about that? Or was it the computer?) : I was able to make it work on another computer (??), bring it over in my room, and boot up the second computer as an external harddrive, and copy it over to my desktop! Hot damn, roundabout!! So I've been learning some Italian. Puo ripetere per favore?
Buster got fleas, which was horrifying. We got him medicine, boraxed the carpets, neurotically sterilized the house, and now he is itch free, happy, and sleeping halfway under my bed.
Feels good to have the time to read books again. Thanks for returning that Dirk Gently book to me, Sean!
I'm pretty sure my mom is moving to Denver.
I got a booth at an art fair all by myself, which is exciting/ worrisome ( as in, what the hell am I going to use for table space?). I might have to steal something out of a shed that's my mom's thats in a shed that isn't her's. Oh my. Is it stealing? |

OH MY DEAR GOD I am so angry right now I could punch a donkey
I bought an Italian program for my computer to prepare myself for next semester, and its defective. Does the manufacturer have a support/contact us site? NO! Since I bought it in an Apple store I was wondering if I could return it to them. Can I? Who the flying fuck knows, I was on their website for AN HOUR
I challange Einstein and Newton and Sophocles to all stop being so goddamn dead and learn what a computer is and FIND A WAY TO ASK A QUESTION ON APPLE.COM
BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THEY CAN
AND I HAD A BEAUTIFUL POST I THOUGHT I POSTED DAYS AGO BUT OH NO IT DIDNT AND NONE OF THAT WAS RANTING BUT GOD KNOWS I DON'T FEEL LIKE WRITING IN NORMAL LETTERS RIGHT NOW |

| | (Keep Feeling) Fascination - The Human League | ] | Earlier today on a typical weekend excursion, I stumbled across a notable peice of luggage which I just had to own. It's an old leather job covered in 40s and 50's hotel stickers from around the world, and looks exactly like you would imagine an old, *perfect* suitcase would.
Well anyway, that was this week's highlight. I've been bumming around home painting dogs (Whhhoooa, I know, slow down on the excitement you cry), and did more than even I expected (18 in less than a week!). Watching British tv continues. In other news, I got some new Chucks.
BUT! This upcoming week is going to be great! I'm going to Jersey!!!
I've recently rediscovered my love for New Wave! And discovered my passion for 60s Garage Rock runs deeper than previously thought!
I miss all the (my) blondes (except, you know...)! |

| | Spazz - The Elastik Band | ] | Really? Have I been updating that infrequently? Hello! The week(s?) in reveiw:
* major points: moving, end of school * minor points: hanging a painting of a crying clown, buying a water pitcher * everything else, in chronological order: * there was a fabulous farewell party, of which I might share pictures if I can find my camera cord * finals went well, but moving was a bitch and took me nearly 5 hours to get all my stuff out to my car and packed. Which I didn't do all that well, as the first stop sign I came to made my desk legs slide and hit me in the back of the head. Also one of my windows stopped working. * came home to $250 worth of canvases I bought the other week, and several cds of Irish Kid music! Listening to Nuggets! And getting (/sharing) Pebbles soon! * Went to start up my computer, but had a kernal error (meaning bad shit) * fixed problem (clearly, as I am typing this now) * my dad bought a PS2, so we've been playing games instead of doing work. Sulpys! In this one game, the main character is named Jennifer and her woofie Brown. This is only funny to those who know my (now) ex (roommate) is named... Jennifer Brown. Or is it? Funny that is. Man its only been days. * went on a shopping spree today (hence that water pitcher), bought more interesting items like a 60s moose bank and some other stuff. * been watching a lot of British comedy lately. Rewatching the Office, and enjoying Black Books for the first time. And Tristram Shandy is a hell of a weird movie! * And speaking of books, sort of, I really need some. I can't keep rereading books about events that took place in Jersey and 'History and Social Theory' has limited rereadings, namely none. * Do you know I now have 8 different versions of Hey Joe by 6 different bands? * These points have lost chronology and are just starting to mirror whats going on in my head at the moment *Chex Mix now comes in Tropical *delicious |

Ah, Thursday was in fact stupendous. For those who don't chronicle my life that means the Sondre Lerche concert was *swoon* great (how great? this great. ( Read more... )
Anyway, other than that things are going normally. Also on Thursday one of the models never came back after lunch and I had to pose ( clothed... fully clothed.) for half the class. My damn sternum/collarbone is bothering me again. Jen and I snuck into places in the Meyerhoff we're not supposed to be anywhere near, and even found a treasure chest (not kidding). At a flea market yesterday I bought this gem
because how the hell could I not. It looks like its been drowned and disattached.
Gotta go, need to watch the weekly repugnant movie.
Oh, almost forgot: there is such an occupation as a Tintinologist. And its exactly what you think it is. |

I know how little this will probably interest all of you, but... man, it has been an exciting week for art. I had a painting crit, I started a new canvas today, I got into SACI, I won a $2500 scholarship from MICA, I started working with NuPastels for really the first time ever and I quite like them, and I've been doing some hardcore grad school research. And yes, it does all toootally excite me. |

Suddenly this day has gotten pretty darn cool. I did some drawings that I liked, I got accepted to SACI (which means I'll be studying abroad in Italy next fall), I watched Idiocracy which I thought was pretty cute and funny, and now they're playing Recycle tonight at Asian Film Club. Hell yes to all of the above. |
